Semantics part deux

In the same text thread mentioned earlier, we learned there is a difference in "the woods" and "the Forrest" (capitalization intended).  In the woods behind my house you will find, a trail made by son and his friends, the  skin of a snake we are hoping to avoid, the burial site for the family pet (RIP Miranda) and evidence of target shooting and ATV tracks (illegal but operated nonetheless).  In the Forrest you will find druids, wolf spirit guides and a whole lot of new best friends.

Once during Ethan's 2nd birthday party a group of men dressed in camoflauge and carrying machetes emerged from the woods and strolled through the party   as if they belonged there.  They had never heard of "The Forrest" but I suggested they go look for it, they declined and took their machetes and hunting dog back into the woods from whence they came.

  1. I have neither the woods nor The Forest near me. Those both require trees, and, alas, my piece of Tuscaloosa has nothing but the scraggly remnants of about 10% of its pre-tornado trees.
